i dunno, cause it's not a photo paint over,i only use the cover magazine with jack sparrow face on it to make a sketch, then scan the the sketch and i scan the cover too to match the color pallete cause i wanna make it as realistic as possible, besides i don't have wacom tablet,so it's really paint in the ass to finish this one, lots of paint then smudge to get the "almost" perfect result,Bah!,i'm still not satisfied with this one.and working on another one full body pose right now,i dunno when it'll finish tho, still at coloring the background.wish me luck, besides i'm still learning. :)

Perhaps you'd get more satisfaction doing something less restricted... so you don't feel the need to make it match perfectly. Painting from photos is good practice, but doesn't allow room for much creativity. And you might end up relying on photo references in the long run.

Anyway, I think it's very well done for being a painting of a photo and it shows that you have a lot of patience. :)

I think you have really nice works, but i would like to see some creative works from you rather then works with photo references. I mean all your works are from photos. Anyways you have a lot of talent and I like them.

I swear everyone has seen this movie apart from me, it's so depressing. Bah, anyways, beautiful painting, I'm in awe ^_~, the details are wonderful.

amaregina: This is a nicely done painting. I’d like to believe people when they say they haven’t smart blurred or painted over or whatever. But the way this looks is too much like the photo. I don’t think that’s how photo references should be used. If you think you’ve reached that stage, then why *paint* it in the first place? There’s a difference between being able to paint very photorealistic images and being able to paint the likeness of a photo. I’d often think, “What have I added to this painting that have more beautiful qualities than the reference photo I’m using? What have I done to make it more of my own?

Sorry about this long post. I hope you can at least agree with me on some parts and continue to improve as we learn. :)

I agree with u PeachySticks, however i must admit my desire to make this one looks almost real because in my recent work "Shades" i still can't achieve a good result using photo reference,so consider this as my early training work,it's not like i don't have any creativity inside me,it's just my goal on this one is to draw it as real as possible, besides i have to draw it with mouse,so i have to get my hand to adapt as quickly as possible, thank you i really apreciated your comment.

i think i saw a pencil sketch of this on deviantart. you are really good with colours and you have a lot of talent. but if you keep using a mouse you might hurt your hand. :( ps. ps. please send me a message about what smart blur is?
